We came up with the idea of this compilation from a few angles. People have short attention spans! People love ringtones! Most songs are too long! So we put together this collection of songs 30 seconds long & made them available as ringtones. Some of the usual suspects for our compilations, some new friends, plus where else are you going to hear 46 tracks in 23 minutes. The artist roster is Electric Bird Noise, Zanzibar Snails, muscle mass, Pacific 231, Ben Link Collins, Rollerball, Thorn1,...

After the release of Bleeding Light, Aarktica did a short West Coast tour with most of the full live band. During this trip the band was invited to perform live on the air at KUCI in Irvine, CA. These tracks, recorded live, capture the rawness, tension & dynamics of Bleeding Light-era Aarktica & represent the only live shows done outside of New York City for this album. A very different animal than the on-record Aarktica most know, the live shows of this era featured the virtuosity of...

“...the occasionally subliminal music is appropriately moody, morose, frightening, cautious, heart-pounding, & unsettling – think of David Lynch’s soundtrack to Eraserhead. Often glacially slow & ominous, it never interferes or distracts from the story – it’s ultimately one of the most ambient soundtracks you’ll hear all year and would easily attract the attention of fans of Eno, Sounds of The Lid, Windy & Carl, Azusa Plane, et. al.” ~ Jeff Penczak, Foxy Digitalis When...

At the request of Bryce Clayton Eiman, Remora prepared a piece for the Guitar Antiheroes 919 Noise Showcase on May 12, 2009. The showcase had performers pushing the idea of how to approach the guitar as an instrument. For Remora’s performance to push the sound to the next level from a standard Remora show (which is already often filled with guitar noise), Brian John Mitchell (Remora) boosted the sound to the next level by using five guitars, a bass, & four amplifiers instead of the...

This release is not for everyone, but fans of Silber will definitely find a lot of sounds to dig & recognize. âThousand-Faced Moonâ has an underwater ambient sound, with a build of tension & pressure as a capsized ship sinks. âCuriosity Makes You Irresponsibleâ is the noisiest track, sounding a bit like listening to a Brian Eno album while navigating a war field. âSlightly Quicker Rotationâ goes from glitchy loops to guitar improvisation to a darkwave groove & into aggressive...

Chilly spacious distance with random muted industrial movements in dense fog. Full & shrouded in supernatural mystery. Cold empathic visions of the beginnings & endings of the universe. Subtly warm reassurances of far away factories humming with artificial life. Ice as far as the eye can see, the wind murmurs like ghosts. ~ George Parsons, Dream Magazine

Some of you may already know Hotel, Hotel. They formed back in 2005 & have done several national & international tours over these three years. As part of the Texas experimental/indie-ambient/post rock scene (Explosions in the Sky, Shiny Around the Edges, The Zanzibar Snails), Hotel, Hotel stands apart for their more improvisational approaches to music, more atmospheric & less rocking out sound, as well as their instrumentation (two violins replacing bass guitar & vocals on this...

Here at Silber, mothers have always had a special place in our heart. So we’re happy to finally get a compilation together to pay a little bit of the tribute mothers are so dearly due. Everyone has a different style of song to show their love from heavy metal (Wrong Brothers) to post-rock (Glissade, Electric Bird Noise) to noise (Moral Crayfish) to simply acoustic guitar (Remora). While most went the instrumental route, the songs with vocals by Plumerai & Miss Massive Snowflake show the...

Just like the title would lead you to believe, this is ambient drones for one guitar. It's divided into two discs, one of long drones & one of shorter drones. The guitar has tons of reverb & other effects as well as loops going on from the era when 2 seconds was still a long loop...

Vlor was an acoustic guitar instrumental shoegazer project. How can you be a shoegazer with an acoustic guitar? Record in a large room with the mic on the other side & you have plenty of reverb. At times reminescent of the Cure or Joy Division or Windsor for the Derby, Vlor is still its own unique sound. Lavished/Luxate collects both of the original cassette releases & documents two best friends playing guitar together live & raw.
